UPDATE TIME!

Bugg just had her two year allergy testing. It got moved forward by a few months after breaking out in hives post shower soap snack. As it turns out she isn't allergic to the soap (YAY! for tiny blessings!), coconut, rice, apples, tumeric, cinnamon, figs, or soy! but that brings us back around to what she IS allergic to...

Last round of testing B was still on her full doses of all her meds, so her results were inconclusive. This time around we did a medication fast for 72 hours pre appointment in preparation in order to get the most reliable results we can in a child so young. (Some allergists wont even do skin testing on children under 2!)

They did the testing in two groups, first using lab formulated serums and the following up with the true food if there were any unexpected negatives in round one.

First round she tested postive to her known allergens: Dairy and Egg, but tested negative to peanuts and banana and identified a previously unknown allergy: WHEAT!

They repeated the peanut and banana testing using real food proteins and she reacted positive to both. Just as quickly as we thought maybe she was growing out of a few of them they got thrown back into the mix.

I must admit I am frustrated by these results and honestly, I haven't fully processed the appointment a week later...

The good news is we got the go ahead to switch her from the $$$ Mast Cell Stabilizing Drug she was taking onto the insurance covered compounded Reactine AND we are reducing her reflux medication as well!

This time last year I could barely focus on a conversation, sleep deprivation and the Total Elimination Diet was running me completely dry. Its amazing how far we have come with almost no information, no answers, to real idea what we are doing.

At least now we have more options to explore when it comes to food. Despite adding yet another food to THE LIST we eliminated some of guess work and can come up with a next step... whatever that might be...
